Sri Trang Agro-Industry Plc (STA) signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Prince of Songkhla University (PSU) to carry out research and develop natural rubber innovation.

July 9, 2017 – Sri Trang Agro-Industry Plc and Prince of Songkhla University held the signing ceremony of the MoU to do research and develop natural rubber innovation. Mr. Patrawut Panitkul, STA’s Executive Director and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Perapong Tekasakul, PSU’s Vice President for Research System and Graduate Studies, represented their respective organizations to sign the MoU at the Meeting Room 1, Office of the President at PSU, Hat Yai campus.  

Mr. Patrawut said currently natural rubber is an economic plant of the country. Thailand is the world’s biggest natural rubber producer in term of production volume and quality. Apparently, its production and export volume has increased significantly. In order to increase its effective production to serve clients’ demand and also sustain its leadership in natural rubber production, STA and PSU is essential to work together on the research on natural rubber innovation by starting from a process of production to finished products in order to create related natural rubber innovation for the highest benefits. 

“The MoU signing between STA and PSU will make the research and development project of natural rubber innovation to move ahead in a full scale. To do so, we will keep focus on all dimensions from promoting the quality of supply chain system from upstream to downstream to the production formula such as increasing production output, developing products in the medium level of rubber sheet, rubber bar and concentrated latex, as well as developing environmentally-friendly production and promoting its natural rubber export expansion. This will help promote and stabilize Thailand’s natural rubber industry sustainably,” Mr. Patrawut said.
