STA accelerates toward Net Zero with Solar Investments, Energy Saving Technologies, and Nationwide Shift to Electric Forklifts

Sri Trang Agro-Industry Public Company Limited (“STA” or “the Company”) announced a 13.59% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 2021, driven by “Enhance–Switch–Store” strategy. Looking ahead to 2025, STA will invest an additional 20.6 MW of solar power installations across its facilities, upgrade aeration systems for wastewater treatment to improve energy efficiency and expand the use of electric forklifts nationwide. These initiatives underscore STA’s commitment to becoming a fully integrated the Green Rubber Company organization, targeting carbon neutrality by 2030 and Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Mr. Veerasith Sinchareonkul, Chief Executive Officer of Sri Trang Agro-Industry Public Company Limited (STA) a global leader in integrated natural rubber and Thailand’s largest rubber glove manufacturer. Announced significant progress in the company’s sustainability journey. Following STA’s Net Zero commitment declared last year, the company achieved a 13.59% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2024 compared to the 2021 baseline.

This achievement is the result of the “Enhance–Switch–Store” strategy:

  1. Enhance: Improving energy efficiency and optimizing operational processes to boost productivity.
  2. Switch: Transitioning to low-carbon technologies and increasing the use of renewable energy.
  3. Store: Capturing and storing carbon through rubber plantations, reforestation, and carbon capture technologies within production processes. Key initiatives include replacing fuel-powered forklifts with electric models (EV forklifts) and expanding solar power generation across STA’s facilities.

In 2025, Sri Trang Agro-Industry Public Company Limited (STA) is reinforcing its environmental commitments through several major initiatives:

  1. Expansion of Clean Energy Use:
STA plans to install an additional 20.6 megawatts (MW) of solar power capacity, building on its existing installations across eight facilities, including in Mukdahan, Thung Song (Nakhon Si Thammarat), and Huai Nang (Trang), which currently generate a combined 40.6 MW. This expansion will reduce reliance on fossil fuels, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and improve overall energy efficiency.
  2. Production Process Optimization:
The company is upgrading its wastewater treatment systems by replacing aeration units with higher-efficiency models, which are expected to cut electricity usage by over 35%. This initiative supports both emission reduction and improved resource management.
  3. Promotion of Electric Vehicles:
STA is increasing the number of electric forklifts (EV forklifts) in its factories and expanding EV charging station infrastructure. These efforts aim to reduce carbon emissions in logistics, minimize air pollution, and contribute to reducing PM 2.5 particles—an urgent environmental issue affecting public health.

Ongoing and upcoming initiatives in 2025 reaffirm Sri Trang Agro-Industry’s position as The Green Rubber Company—The Fully Integrated and Sustainable Natural Rubber Enterprise. The company remains firmly committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. “These efforts not only strengthen STA’s leadership in the global natural rubber industry but also align with the growing global demand for environmentally responsible products. They further enhance our long-term competitiveness,” said Mr. Veerasith.
