STA Promotes “SRI TRANG FRIENDS” Application to Enhance the Quality of Life for Rubber Farmers and Traders, Driving the Growth of Thailand's Rubber Industry in the Global Market, While Ensuring Transparent Data Collection to Comply with EUDR Regulations.
Sri Trang Agro-Industry Public Company Limited (STA) Advises Rubber Farmers and Traders to Traceable Natural Rubber (GPS) Practices to Support Traceability Requirements under the European Union's EUDR Law, with Potential Expansion to Other Regions in the Future. The Company Provides Essential Information for Risk Assessment According to EU Standards, Highlighting the Opportunity for Prepared Participants to Enhance Global Competitiveness. "SRI TRANG FRIENDS" Application is Promoted as a Tool to Connect Stakeholders in the Rubber Industry Ecosystem, Facilitating Convenience and Improving Quality of Life, While Ensuring Transparency in Data Collection to Support Supplier Due Diligence under EUDR Regulations.
Mr. Veerasith Sinchareonkul, CEO and Executive Director of Sri Trang Agro-Industry Public Company Limited (STA), the world's largest fully integrated natural rubber business and Thailand's leading producer of rubber gloves, stated that following the European Union's impending enforcement of the EU Deforestation-Free Regulation (EUDR), the export of natural rubber and rubber products to Europe will require traceability to verify that the products do not originate from deforested areas or illegally occupied land.
Additionally, rubber producers and exporters must collect data through direct interactions with rubber farmers, meeting EU requirements such as: 1) ensuring products are not produced on land associated with deforestation or forest degradation, 2) ensuring that products come from legal production processes, and 3) ensuring that products undergo due diligence assessments. Producers and exporters must submit inspection reports before importing or exporting products to mitigate potential future risks.
Rubber farmers and traders who are prepared for traceability requirements and provide necessary information to the company will benefit from improved environmental conditions around their residences, job security, and opportunities to increase agricultural productivity. These benefits will also lead to increased trade opportunities, particularly in expanding export markets to Europe and other regions. This readiness will boost the competitiveness of Thailand's rubber industry, preparing it for future regulations that may require traceability to prioritize environmental conservation, thereby promoting the sustainable growth of Thailand's rubber industry and establishing it as a leader in eco-friendly practices.
STA has developed the "SRI TRANG FRIENDS" application to connect stakeholders within the rubber industry ecosystem and drive Thailand's rubber industry towards digital transformation. This app enhances convenience and sustainably improves the quality of life for rubber farmers and traders. The app is available for download on both Android and IOS, allowing users to register, submit documents, and verify their identity to access the services.
Furthermore, the app has been enhanced to serve as a platform for collecting GPS coordinates of rubber plantations, enabling traceability of rubber origins. This system ensures compliance with EUDR regulations through Supplier Due Diligence, verifying that the rubber meets the required standards. STA continues to engage with farmers and traders to build awareness and confidence in the data collection system for traceability, ensuring transparency and security in data usage.
"Prioritizing business practices that consider environmental and social impacts, such as rejecting products from deforested areas and avoiding illegal labor, is a global concern. Compliance with EUDR is essential for all stakeholders in the rubber industry. STA is committed to sustainable business practices, including environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and corporate governance under the principles of good governance, aiming to become a 'Green Rubber Company'. We fully support rubber farmers in exporting EUDR-compliant rubber to the global market," said Mr. Veerasith.
